This past spring, I wrote a grant to the Ohio 4-H Foundation to get $3000 to put on a day camp, Cloverbud Science Days, and bring the Columbus Zoo animals to our county this fall (November 7th), and I received it!
To thank the Foundation, I went up and presented about our camp and science days to donors, and people were very interested in the wide array of activities Athens County has that are not just the traditional 4-H programs. Thanks again, Ohio 4-H Foundation!

4-H: Being a "Cut" Above the Rest!
I went to JoAnn Fabrics yesterday and picked out three very pretty Christmas fabrics, since I am making a holiday/winter quilt for my project! The book said to get 1/4 yard of each fabric, but since I am modifying it to make a full-sized one, I bought 1.5 yards of each fabric. Some things I learned:
- Always have a coupon! Make sure you are checking online deals.
- It is always better to have more fabric, than less-- sometimes the stores run out of specialty fabrics, and you won't be able to buy more.
- Using a rotary cutter successfully still requires as much attention as using scissors!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
While I know this holiday has other meanings to it, I love seeing all the shamrocks, because it makes me think of 4-H!! Speaking of, the enrollment deadline is only TWO WEEKS AWAY, so make sure you get your enrollment form in soon! :)

December in 4-H
I'm so excited about all the 4-H events at the state and local level this month! Annual Conference was a great time, and my session went really well :). Up this week is the Winter Craft Night (Wednesday from 5-7pm) and I get to go present my lesson plan at the state level as part of my teaching certification class that I'm doing. Also, every meeting I have this month seems to be doing a holiday party, so lots of great food! Finally, Pet Pals is doing their holiday visit on Saturday, December 21st at 3:00pm where the animals will dress up for the residents of Kimes Nursing Home. Have a happy holiday season everyone!

I can't wait to have all of us get back into 4-H in the New Year, and I hope to see a lot of you at Ohio 4-H Conference in March for my session on integrating play into meetings and trainings!
